7 tips for growing your SwarmTribe

In all cases replace XXXX with your bands shortname (the one shown when you view your bands profile on www.swarmtribes.com)
1. Make sure you put short-code sign-up details on all band publicity material
To join our tribe just text JOIN XXXX to 80806 if you are in the UK
Its totally FREE, no CHARGES, no SPAM and we wont pass your details on to anyone else
(If you are outside the UK text JOIN XXXX to +447781482909 but your local operator may apply international text tariffs)
2. Give out your “join our swarm” cards at your gigs
A template for you to use is attached – just edit in your bands shortname, print it out, copy it and cut-out the cards.
You can also announce it – “Just text JOIN XXXX to 80806 to join the bands mobile phone tribe”
You can also put it on posters or project it on a big screen
3. Email your band mailing list with the sign-up link and short code
This will allow any reader to sign-up either by clicking the link or sending a text.
Here is a sample email - just edit in your bands shortname and tailor the words to suit you

4. Have an incentive for people to click on your MySpace widget or link (e.g. free iPod draw)
Here is the widget Code - just edit in your bands shortname
Make sure you put some words around it to encourage people to click on it
E.g. “FIRST 100 fans to reply will get free ticket code for next gig”
You should also put the widget on the bands website and other sites (eg Facebook)
5. Sign-up the band support team and band members and get each of them to invite 20 fans to join your tribe
Invite the band members to join the private swarm for the band by selecting ADD KEY MEMBER and selecting your band from the drop-down menu (in case you have more than one)
Make sure you give each of them “invite rights” by selecting VIEW MEMBERS and ticking the boxes INVITE RIGHTS and CAN ALWAYS BROADCAST for them
Get them to identify 20 fans whose mobile phone numbers they know and help them do their first invites.
Make sure they ring them up first before sending an invite (see point 6)
From their mobile phones they just text INVITE XXXX followed by up to 10 mobile phone numbers to 07781482909 where XXXX is your your bands shortname
6. Always ring before you send somebody a text invite
If you do this they will nearly always ACCEPT if you don’t then only 1 in 10 will ACCEPT – do the maths!
Say something like this:
“We have set up a special service to make sure our top fans hear first about any band news, promotions and gigs. We are also going to be setting up a VIP club for fans who really want to get involved with the band. I am going to send you a text inviting you to join so when you get it please just immediately reply ACCEPT and you are in!”
7. Send reminders to people who have not replied to their invites
Anybody with Invite Rights can do this. Login www.swarmtribes.com and select INVITE MEMBERS command. Then select PENDING INVITATIONS and SEND REMINDER.
Make sure they ring them up first before sending a reminder (see point 6)
