Dutch Students Swarm to the Surf 28 Sep 2006
Hi I’m Ruben

Hi, my name is Ruben Rijken and I'm living in downtown Tilburg in the Netherlands.
As a student (International Business) I'm always busy making the most of what student life has to offer.
We have been using the Swarmteams application for ages now - everybody loves it and SWARM is now a very much used word with me and my friends. We all know what it means and we have a lot of fun playing with it!
Student Life - Surfing, Parties, Romance…. and Work
Communication plays an important role here and I'm using swarmteams as a communications tool with my student windsurfing association to quickly contact the core members.
If tonight the internet tells me that tomorrow there will be wind, it only takes me a SWARM to inform my buddies that we have to go surfing the next day and the turnout is bigger than ever. Also news about a great party can be spread around the swarm instantly - by anyone who discovers one.People say they are better and more informed about important matters - our main swarm is Spin-Out and we also have a web-site.
I also use swarmteams for communication with my girlfriend to always be able to reach each other – a SWARM can be as small as two people or as big as you like.
But student life is not just surfing and parties...
I also created a swarm for my internship in a consultancy office, to help me communicate more effectively with my colleagues who are out of the office most of the times.
It’s hard for them to get to their email and a text message from the SWARM just pops straight onto their mobile phones
Now everybody knows what’s going on
The thing I like most about swarmteams is that everybody is informed through several devices (mobile phone, internet, email and RSS) so everybody knows what's going on.
It is very simple and for me it has proved to be far more effective for communications than just calling or emailing or sending a text.
It’s especially good for us as a group of students and windsurfers where late parties or strong winds can be communicated to our large network with a single message.
For us it has also served as a sort of forum through text messages rather than just relying on the internet.

Right now the surf season is coming up so hoping to catch more waves and better winds together with Swarm-it!
